4 Basic Pickleball Tips

#1: Use “Third Shot Drop”

You and your teammate are not in the non-volley zone of the field. Oppositely, your rivals are there, taking a big advantage. What should you do now? Really simple! Apply the “Third Shot Drop” to win the game!

When you do this shot, you will try to make the ball bounce in your rivals’ non-volley zone right after it clears the net. If you successfully perform this tactic, the ball will be at a very low height, giving your rivals a hard time to attack.

Typically, your opponents will be forced to hit the ball up back. Since the ball flies highly back to you, you can easily make another Shot Drop, approach your non-volley zone, and make the final hit to get the point.

#2: Keep your rivals stay in their court

It is super easy to understand that the players who are at the non-volley zone will take a lot of advantage. That’s why keeping the rivals at the baseline is also a useful pickleball strategy, especially when you are in the non-volley area.

This tactic aims to hit the ball as far from the opponents’ non-volley zone as possible. Normally, you will try to keep your rivals at their own baseline. As they can not approach their top spot of the field, they will get many problems to attack you back.

Taking advantage of this strategy, you and your teammate will be the ones who control the game. The rest you need to do is wait for your rivals’ mistakes and make the final hit.

#3: Communicate with your teammate

Teamwork plays an essential role in pickleball. Therefore, you should optimize the chance of teamwork communication as much as you can. Of course, you surely don’t want to have a misunderstanding between you and your partner while playing, right?

So, remember to communicate with your teammate effectively during a game of pickleball. In other words, you should give signs to your partner, so that he/she can understand you.

There are a lot of ways to communicate with your teammate. You can talk, use body language, or even make specific gestures or sounds of signs (many pickleball experts use this kind of sign-in competition).

#4: Play patiently

Are your rivals taking the lead? Do not rush! That will only make the situation worse! Instead, you should keep calm and wait for the chance to come. When your mind is free, you can think more cleverly. As a result, you can come up with a solution faster
